Worth a try!
I've been using night guards for over 20 years, but this is the first time I've tried an online variety. I wasn't sure how the APM® could compare to the expensive custom-fitted ones from the dentist -- but I've been wearing through the expensive ones way too fast lately! The directions are very clear, which is nice. It was nice to have such precise instructions. It comes with two guards which join together wherever you need. The nice thing about the process is that this stuff doesn't have that gelled-kerosene-like flavor of the molds the dentists use! According to the instructions, you can re-make the impressions by calling in, so if you don't get it right the first time it's OK. I couldn't believe it, my final product is every bit as pretty as the custom ones, and I figure that if I buy a couple of these this year, I'll come out ahead. And I know, from many years of experience, that I'll sleep a LOT better with a guard in place. If you have grinding issues, it's worth a try! Do be sure you know what you are doing though, check with your doctor if you are concerned about TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint problems -- pain around your ears or your temples, for example -- this will prevent further wear and tear but not treat damage that has already occurred). Good luck and thanks for reading. Update - a few months later: This one worked well, it stayed in nicely and protected my jaws and teeth and helped me sleep better and all that. It did not even get kind of worn out or chewed up inside. It seems so far to be of a firmer "plastic" and may hold up longer.

It is definitely more comfortable
I had a $300 custom night guard from my dentist which was hard plastic and not very comfortable due to saliva collecting in the guard behind my front teeth. I tried this inexpensive alternative. It is snug and effective in keeping my teeth apart and it is comfortable. Everyone should try this, I think it is definitely more comfortable.

I bought this APM® system for my GF. She is a small woman and the custom fitted trays worked better. We had to take her impressions only once to get a good fit. It works really well for the price. This one is the best
I purchased this for my husband when he started to grind his teeth like crazy in his sleep. Compared to other TMJ devices, this one is the best. I love that it comes in two pieces and is adjustable to ensure the best/most comfortable fit. I'll also note that it was very easy to follow the instructions. Another nice feature is that the case stands out on the nightstand, which is a good reminder before bed that it needs to be put in. It does take awhile to get used to wearing the TMJ device if you haven't worn one before, but that is the case with all night guards. There is still some tooth/jaw soreness in the morning, but it's great knowing that his teeth are still protected. There are no more horrid grinding sounds coming from his mouth anymore. This was worth buying, even if it is a tad more expensive than other TMJ devices out there.

I was wrong
I didn't believe a your product could be a good substitute for a $300 one from the dentist, but I was wrong. My only caveat is that the I purchased the one from the dentist first. I've used both and see little difference between them. In fact, yours may be better! The instructions were good and I got the bite right the first time. Kudos to an excellent company.

The fit is awesome
The fit is awesome. Customized for my bite perfectly. I just can't sleep with an otc athletic guard in my mouth all night. If you've never had a TMJ Device, it's tough getting used to. For the price, this one is well worth the try if you don't want to spend $$ on a dentist-made one.

Hate the OTC night guards, total waste of money to me! Read some online reviews from other purchasers and decided to give them a try. I went back online and found your product, which is more costly but it is just like what your dentist would do only it is done on line direct with dental lab cutting out the middleman (Dentist) profits.

More comfortable
I lost my expensive dentist-made night guard a couple months ago. Thought I'd find it in a week or two, but didn't. I had used these previous ones for about 4 years. Oh well. I can't afford the $500 my dentist wants to make a new one, and a couple of my teeth were starting to hurt, so I checked online and decided to try the TMJ APM® Trays, based primarily on the testimonials. I am very very impressed. The dentist one I had before was hard and rigid, the material this device is made of is actually more comfortable. I'm extremely impressed with this brand!! AND, it saved me about $375, and works great! What more can you ask?? It is important to read the directions carefully. After that, I had it on the first try. I knew exactly what to do. Also, before biting down, make sure you have the teeth properly aligned with the tray. This is actually recommended in the instructions. Anyway, excellent product, and I just want to recognize that and help other people find a great solution to a potentially VERY expensive problem.

The only TMJ Device that I will use
Thinking of coughing up $500 for a TMJ Device custom made for you by a dentist? I will start off by affirming that these will last as long as those made by dentists. But it's much cheaper than a dentists TMJ Device. One of the drawbacks of OTC dental guards is that they can irritate the gums. I especially noticed this when my TMJ Device would get old and worn out, kind of thin in some spots. After a while, it doesn't fit quite the same and the constant uneven pressure can be bad for the gums. What I like about Brighter Image's TMJ APM® System is that they are custom fitted so that each fit comfortably. I guess my mouth is average sized(I'm not a mouth expert so I couldnt really tell you). IMO, these are the best. The different positions put the pressure in different spots since they move the jaw to different alignments. Which, IMO, results in less potential for irritation on the gums. With the economy the way it is, few can really afford dentist made custom TMJ Devices. The quality of this product is excellent and the adjustable positions are nice to have. This is the only TMJ Device that I will use.

I am about to order my 2nd one of these. Mouthguards have never lasted very long with me. Almost every style and brand has been in my mouth. This is by far the best TMJ Device. Relief from TJM symptoms
I bought this for my wife who has severe bruxism at night. Her insurance didn't cover the $400 for a professional guard that the dentist offered, so we looked at some cheaper options. First we tried a moldable mouth guard from the local sports store, but it created abrasions on her gums and was tossed after a few weeks. Next we tried this one -- after a few weeks of use, none of her TMJ symptoms are bothering her. In addition, the molding was super simple. Sleeping without it is like sleeping without a pillow
This TMJ APM® Device comes with two arches, upper and lower. I found this convenient because, while one setting is comfortable, after about a week my jaw tended to cramp up. I started changing the position at night, which has solved the problem nicely. Now that I seem to have become accustomed to having a guard in at night time, no matter where I set it, it doesn't bother me anymore. Note: For me the night guard was pretty uncomfortable and annoying at first, and my jaw felt tight the next morning. However, after following the instructions more closely by resetting the TMJ APM® Device every night, it has become quite comfortable and sleeping without it is like sleeping without a pillow. So if this is your first TMJ Device, keep in mind that it will take some getting used to.

They received molds of my teeth, determined the spacing between upper and lower teeth, and adjusted the trays to make sure that all my lower teeth hit it at the same time when I bit down.
